Seed Bead Necklace (15") #SB4
$12.00 (includes shipping)
Seed beads are glass, bone, jasper, carnelian with metal
pendant. (4 necklaces left with this metal
piece. Future necklaces have heart pendant.)
This Viking Bead Necklace is made according to archeological
finds from Viking graves from the 10th and 11th centures. Beads
found were mostly made of glass. Some glass-making furnaces were
found in different ares of Scandinavia. Most of the imported
glassware's ended up in the important Viking Age trading places, like
Birka (an island in Sweden), Ribe (in Denmark) and Hedeby in Schleswig
(formerly in the kingdom of Denmark, now in Germany). Broken glass
too were imported, then used in the local production of beads. The sizes,
colors and quantity of beads are according to the website darkcompany.ca,
Dark Ages Re-Creation Company (DARC). This group has high standards
of historical accuracy. They stress reproducing lifestyle and
artifact use during the Viking Age, 800-1000 A. D. DARC used bead
information from Callmer's Trade Beads book, which contains records of
almost 15,000 beads from nearly 300 finds. Excavations were done
mostly at Ribe in Denmark.
This Viking Bead necklace is hand-crafted with predominately
glass beads. To make a more secure necklace, a lobster claw clasp is
used to fasten the necklace. Viking Bead necklaces were usually
asymmetrical.

Viking
Bead Necklace (15") #LB7
$18.00 (includes shipping)
Beads are glass, bone, and porcelain.

Each necklace
is 15" with a 1 1/2" or 2" chain to make a longer necklace.
I have also added a lobster claw clasp for more security.
Large bead necklaces are a little heavy due to the amount of real
glass beads used. Very easy to get used to.
